HKJC Invites Aust Stars Scenic Blast & Apache Cat

Thursday, 29th October 2009

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has invited Australian sprint stars Scenic Blast & Apache Cat to compete in the International Sprint Trial on November 22 (the 1st time the Trial has been open to overseas horses). HKJC executive director of racing William Nader noted the International Trials “were opened to improve the preparation of horses guaranteed a start in the Hong Kong International Races (on December 13).” Scenic Blast (already in Hong Kong) will collect a US$1 million bonus by winning the HK$12 million (A$1.76m) Gr1 HK International Sprint, having already won 2009 Global Sprint Series series legs in Australia (Gr1 Lightning Stakes) & Britain (Gr1 King’s Stand Stakes). And 8-time Gr1-winner Apache Cat finished 3rd in the HK Sprint last season & at his latest start won last weekend’s Gr2 Schweppes Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley in Melbourne.
