Darley Northern Fees: 3 Up, 21 Down & 15 Same

Friday, 30th October 2009

Sheikh Mohammed's Darley operation announced its 2010 Northern Hemisphere stallion fees, with 21 down & 15 unchanged. Only 3 stallions had their fees raised: boom US 2nd-crop sire Medaglia d'Oro (acquired earlier this year from Stonewall Stallions) & UK Dalham Hall-based duo Dubawi & Halling. Sheikh Mohammed’s bloodstock advisor John Ferguson commented: “There is no doubt the yearling market throughout the Northern Hemisphere in 2009 has been extremely selective. Breeders therefore have to be very conscious of the cost of production at every level of the yearling market. Due to reasons both within & outside of the racing industry, there is a shortage of people wishing to invest in race horses at the present time & although we should be cautiously optimistic for the future, Sheikh Mohammed believes Darley’s stud fees must remain exceptional value in order that breeders may continue to operate successfully in these difficult times.”
