Cape Cross Adds UK Black-Type

Monday, 2nd November 2009

Also in the UK, former Darley shuttler Cape Cross (Green Desert-Park Appeal, by Ahonoora) added a black-type success (& 3rd-placing) when Sheikh Hamdan's 3YO gelding Laaheb (Cape Cross-Maskunah, by Sadler's Wells) scored a 1-length victory over his older rivals in the £40,000 (A$72,000) Listed James Seymore Stakes (10 furlongs) at Newmarket. Laaheb (ridden by Richard Hills for trainer Michael Jarvis) defeated Godolphin's French-bred 3YO colt Prince Siegfried (Royal Applause-Intrum Morshaan, by Darshaan) & Irish-bred 4YO mare Saphira's Fire (Cape Cross-All Our Hope, by Gulch). Laaheb was a 200,000 guineas (A$380,000) yearling at the 2007 UK Tattersalls October Sale; overall he now has 4 wins & a runner-up from 6 starts for £49,990 (A$90,000) earnings.
