Jan Vermeer Wins French Gr1 Criterium International

Monday, 2nd November 2009

In France overnight, dual-Derby winning Coolmore sire & former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a juvenile Gr1 triumph when front-running Irish-bred colt Jan Vermeer (Montjeu-Shadow Song, by Pennekamp) blitzed his rivals by 4-lengths in the €250,000 (A$400,000) Gr1 Criterium International (1600m) for 2YOs at Saint-Cloud. Ballydoyle's Jan Vermeer (ridden by Colm O'Donoghue for trainer Aidan O'Brien) defeated Godolphin's fellow Irish-bred colt Emerald Commander (Pivotal-Brigitta, by Sadler's Wells) & the filly Rosanara (Sinndar-Rosawa, by Linamix). Jan Vermeer now has 2 wins from 3 starts.
