Waratah's Secret Wins Fairetha Stakes

Monday, 2nd November 2009

Western Australia's Mungrup Stud-based 8YO 2nd-crop sire Oratorio (Stravinsky-Express A Smile, by Success Express) added a black-type success when unbeaten boom gelding Waratah's Secret (Oratorio-Blissfully, by Zabeel) notched his 4th successive victory (& 2nd successive stakes-win in a fortnight) when he scored by a long-neck in the $75,000 Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) for 3YO colts & geldings at Ascot. Hot favourite Waratah's Secret (whose Australian-bred sire Oratorio is not the Coolmore shuttler of the same name) was ridden by Paul Harvey for trainer David Harrison in defeating fellow geldings The Corporation (Helenus-Corn Fields, by Bletchley Park) & Dino Mak (Fastnet Rock-Hooker, by Volksraad). Waratah's secret (a $43,000 yearling at the 2008 Magic Millions Perth Sale) now has 4 wins (also including last start's Listed Belgravia Stakes over 1200m at Ascot on October 17) from 4 starts for $136,900 earnings.
