Invincible Spirit Adds French Gr2

In France overnight, former European Champion 1st Season Sire & Chatswood Stud shuttler Invincible Spirit (Green Desert-Rafha, by Kris) added a juvenile group success when UK-bred colt Our Jonathan (Invincible Spirit-Sheik 'n Swing, by Celtic Swing) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the €190,000 (A$304,000) Gr2 Criterium De Maisons-Laffitte (1200m) for 2YOs at Maisons-Laffitte. Our Jonathan (ridden by Jamie Spencer for trainer Kevin Ryan) defeated Irish-bred fillies Ascot Glory (Kheleyf-Lake Victoria, by Lake Coniston) & Dolled Up (Whipper-Belle De Cadix, by Law Society). Our Jonathan was a 30,000 guineas (A$57,000) weanling at the 2007 UK Tattersalls December sale & later a 25,000 guineas (A$48,000) 2YO at this year's Tattersalls Guineas Sale. Last start he won October's UK Gr3 Cornwallis Stakes (5 furlongs) at Ascot & overall now has 4 wins (also including August's Irish Listed Tipperary Stakes over 5 furlongs at Dundalk) & a placing from 6 starts.
