Carpenter Rates So You Think Better Than Taj Rossi

Thursday, 5th November 2009

Racing Victoria handicapper Greg Carpenter has rated Bart Cummings-trained Gr1 Cox Plate winner So You Think higher than Taj Rossi, the horse Cummings previously described as the best 3YO he’s trained. When Racing Victoria released weights for Saturday’s Gr1 Emirates Stakes, So You Think was given 52.5kg & Carpenter told racenet.com.au: “So You Think is a 3YO & weight-for-age for a 3YO in the Emirates is 52kg. At 52.5kg, So You Think is a 0.5kg over weight-for-age which is the equivalent of 59.5kg as an older horse. If you go back through 3YOs that have run in this race, Weekend Hussler had 51.5kg & Taj Rossi, who won the race in the early 1970s after coming off a Cox Plate victory, he had 51kg which at the time was weight-for-age. So in those terms with So You Think a 0.5kg over weight-for-age, he rates more highly than Taj Rossi & Weekend Hussler.”
