All American Wins Gr1 Emirates Stakes

Monday, 9th November 2009

Vinery Stud shuttler & now permanently Australian-based stallion Red Ransom (Roberto-Arabia, by Damascus) added a Gr1 triumph (& 14th individual Gr1-winner) when 4YO entire All American (Red Ransom-Milva, by Strawberry Road) stormed down the centre of the track to notch a decisive 2.5-lengths victory in the $1 million Gr1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington in Melbourne. All American (ridden by Corey Brown for trainer David Hayes) defeated favoured 3YO colt So You Think (High Chaparral-Triassic, by Tights) & 6YO gelding Gold Salute (Testa Rossa-Gold Sarah, by Catrail). All American (a $220,000 yearling consigned by Strawberry Hill Stud at the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) took his record to 4 wins (also including 2008’s Gr3 Skyline Stakes over 1200m at Randwick & 2007’s Listed St Albans Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley) & 5 placings (including last start’s Gr2 Patinack Farm Crystal Mile over 1600m at Moonee Valley on October 24 & August’s Listed Aurie's Star Handicap over 1200m at Flemington, plus 2008’s Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes over 1200m at Flemington, Gr1 Arrowfield Stud Blue Diamond Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield & Gr2 Bill Stutt Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley) from 23 starts for $1,269,415 earnings. Meanwhile back in April 2008, Arrowfield announced the purchase of a 50% interest in then juvenile colt All American, with a plan for him to stand at Arrowfield Stud at Scone in the NSW Hunter Valley upon completion of his racing career.
