Conduit Wins US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf

Irish-bred & UK-trained 4YO entire Conduit (Dalakhani-Well Head, by Sadler's Wells) also motored home from last-in-running to score a half-length victory in the US$3 million Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Turf (12 furlongs on turf) at Santa Anita & take this race for the 2nd successive year. Conduit (ridden by Ryan Moore for trainer Sir Michael Stoute) defeated front-running 6YO gelding Presious Passion (Royal Anthem-Princesa's Passion, by Marquetry) & UK-bred 4YO mare Dar Re Mi (Singspiel-Darara, by Top Ville). Conduit (last season's US Eclipse Award Winner as Champion Male Turf Horse) has just been sold to Big Red Farm in Japan, where he will stand the 2010 breeding season. Conduit took his overall record to 7 wins (also including July’s UK Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 12 furlongs at Ascot, plus 2008's US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf over 12 furlongs at Santa Anita, UK Gr1 St Leger Stakes over 14 furlongs at Doncaster & UK Gr3 Gordon Stakes over 12 furlongs at Goodwood) & 5 placings (including both July’s UK Gr1 Eclipse Stakes over 10 furlongs at Sandown Park & May's Gr3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes over 10 furlongs at Sandown, plus 2008's Gr2 King Edward VII Stakes over 12 furlongs at Royal Ascot) from 14 starts for US$5,375,300 earnings.
