Corporate Sam Wins Ascot Gold Cup

Deceased WA stallion Corporate Raider (Biscay-Vain Queen, by Vain) added a black-type success when 9YO gelding Corporate Sam (Corporate Raider-Lady Saba, by Gay Saba) gained the decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the $75,000 Listed Ascot Gold Cup (1800m) in Perth. Corporate Sam (ridden by Shaun McGruddy for trainer Trevor Andrews) scored by a short-head from 7YO gelding Mikaldico (Fimiston-Part Whiskey, by Take Your Partner) with a further long-neck to 6YO gelding Geyser Peak (Anabaa-Sparkling Shiraz, by Marscay). Corporate Sam took his record to 10 wins & 20 placings (including February’s Listed Detonator Stakes over 1800m at Ascot) from 70 starts for $401,505 earnings.
