Monday, 9th November 2009

Former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Black Minnaloushe (Storm Cat-Coral Dance, by Green Dancer) added a US Gr1 triumph when 4YO gelding Dancing In Silks (Black Minnaloushe-Lemhi Love, by Royal And Regal) gained the decision in a 4-way photo-finish to the US$2 million Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (6 furlongs on all-weather) at Santa Anita. Dancing In Silks (ridden by Joel Rosario for trainer Carla Gaines) scored by a nose from 4YO entire Crown Of Thorns (Repent-Crowning Touch, by Thunder Gulch) with a further head to front-running 6YO gelding Cost Of Freedom (Cee's Tizzy-Freedom Dance, by Moscow Ballet). California-bred Dancing In Silks (a US$20,000 weanling at the 2005 Keeneland November Sale & later a C$24,000 yearling at the 2006 British Columbia September Sale) took his record to 7 wins (also including last start’s Listed California Cup Sprint Handicap over 6 furlongs at Santa Anita in October, plus September's Listed Pirate's Bounty Handicap over 6 furlongs at Del Mar & 2008's Listed NTRA Stakes over 6.5 furlongs at Hollywood Park) & 4 placings (including 2008's Listed On Trust Handicap over 7.5 furlongs at Hollywood Park, Listed Damascus Stakes over 7 furlongs at Santa Anita & Listed Real Good Deal Stakes over 7 furlongs at Del Mar) from 13 starts for US$1,447,622 earnings.
