Ken & Sarah Ramsey’s 4YO gelding Furthest Land (Smart Strike-Flagrant, by Rahy) scored a 0.75-length victory in the US$1 million Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (8 furlongs on all-weather) at Santa Anita. Furthest Land (ridden by Julien Leparoux for trainer Michael Maker) defeated 4YO entire Ready’s Echo (More Than Ready-Menekineko, by Kingmambo) & Godolphin’s front-running 3YO colt Midshipman (Unbridled's Song-Fleet Lady, by Avenue Of Flags). Furthest Land took his record to 8 wins (also including September’s Gr2 Kentucky Cup Classic stakes over 9 furlongs at Turfway Park & June’s Listed Golden Bear Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Indiana Downs) & 3 placings from 16 starts for US$869,689 earnings.
