Vale Of York Wins US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile

Former European Champion 1st Season Sire & Chatswood Stud shuttler Invincible Spirit (Green Desert-Rafha, by Kris) added a juvenile Gr1 triumph when Godolphin's Irish-bred colt Vale Of York (Invincible Spirit-Red Vale, by Halling) scored by a head in the US$2 million Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Classic (8.5 furlongs on all-weather) for 2YO colts & geldings at Santa Anita. Vale Of York (ridden by Ahmed Ajtebi for trainer Saeed Bin Suroor) defeated favoured colt Lookin At Lucky (Smart Strike-Private Feeling, by Belong To Me) & fellow colt Noble’s Promise (Cuvee-The Devil's Trick, by Clever Trick). Vale Of York was a 23,000 guineas (A$44,000) yearling at the 2008 UK Tattersalls December Sale & overall now has 3 wins (also including September’s UK Listed Stardom Stakes over 8 furlongs at Goodwood) & 2 placings (at his last 2 starts in October’s Italian Gr1 Gran Criterium over 1600m at San Siro & September’s Gr2 Royal Lodge Stakes over 8 furlongs at Ascot) from 6 starts for US$1,142,839 earnings.
