South Africa 2YOs: Average Up 9.4%

Overall at the Emperors Palace Ready-To-Run Sale, 143 lots sold for R27,155,000 (A$3.88m) which was up 1.6% on last year. The average of R189,895 (A$27,100) was up 9.4% while the median of R100,000 (A$14,300) remained unchanged. BloodStock SA sales manager Caroline Simpson declared: “We are thrilled & in fact surprised with these results.” And BSA chief executive Jan Naude added: “There are lots of positives to be taken from the figures & the clearance rate of over 90%, which is on a par with 2008. Notwithstanding the economic downturn, thoroughbred sales in South Africa continue to perform extremely well.”
