US Gr1 Mares Retiring 3: Cocoa Beach

Godolphin also confirmed Chilean-bred 5YO mare Cocoa Beach (Doneraile Court-Visionera, by Edgy Diplomat) is retiring to a breeding career following her 6th-placing (behind Life Is Sweet) in the weekend’s Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic (9 furlongs) at Santa Anita. Cocoa Beach was Chilean 2007 Horse-Of-The-Year & Champion 2YO Filly after notching 4-wins-from-4-starts in her juvenile season, before being purchased by Godolphin. Overall she recorded 10 wins (including 2009’s Listed De La Rose Stakes over 8 furlongs at Saratoga, plus 2008’s Gr1 Beldame Stakes over 9 furlongs at Belmont Park, Gr1 Matriarch Stakes over 8 furlongs at Hollywood Park & Listed Love Sign Stakes over 9 furlongs at Saratoga, as well as both the Listed UAE 1000 Guineas over 1600m at Nad Al Sheba & Listed UAE Oaks over 1800m at Nad Al Sheba, in addition to each of 2007’s Chilean Gr3 Premio Jose Saavedra Baeza over 1500m at Hipodromo Chile, Gr3 Premio Clasico Juan Cavieres over 1300m at Hipodromo Chile & Gr3 Premio Seleccion De Potrancas over 1200m at Hipodromo Chile) & 4 placings (including 2008’s Gr1 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic over 9 furlongs at Santa Anita & Gr2 UAE Derby over 1800m at Nad Al Sheba) from 17 starts for US$1,744,595 earnings.
