Weekend Hussler Returns To McDonald Stables

Tuesday, 10th November 2009

Former Australian Horse-Of-The-Year Weekend Hussler “returns to Ross McDonald's stables this week with an international campaign still very much on the agenda,” reported The Herald-Sun. McDonald (who delayed the return to give the 7-time Gr1-winner every opportunity to overcome a fetlock joint injury) said “all early indications were positive”, adding: “It looks all right, but only time will tell. We have given him the time to get over it instead of trying to patch him up.” Weekend Hussler has not started since he was injured in February’s Gr1 Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley & McDonald has “identified the Gr1 Futurity Stakes (1600m) at Caulfield on February 27 as a pivotal race in determining whether a trip to the Dubai World Cup meeting on March 27 is a realistic option”. He confirmed Weekend Hussler's target would be the Gr1 Dubai Duty Free (1777m) & summed up: “Dubai is in the back of our minds if he's still going all right. All going well we're hoping to get him there.”
