All American Targets WA Gr1 Before Spring Retirement

Wednesday, 11th November 2009

In Australia, Arrowfield Stud confirmed 4YO entire All American (Red Ransom-Milva, by Strawberry Road) who won last weekend’s Gr1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington in Melbourne “is now being set for the Gr1 WATC Railway Stakes” (1600m at Ascot in Perth on November 21) & is subsequently “expected to retire next Spring” to Arrowfield’s Scone base in the NSW Hunter Valley. All American (originally a $220,000 yearling consigned by Strawberry Hill Stud at the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) boasts 4 wins (also including 2008’s Gr3 Skyline Stakes over 1200m at Randwick & 2007’s Listed St Albans Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley) & 5 placings (including October’s Gr2 Patinack Farm Crystal Mile over 1600m at Moonee Valley on October 24 & August’s Listed Aurie's Star Handicap over 1200m at Flemington, plus 2008’s Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes over 1200m at Flemington, Gr1 Arrowfield Stud Blue Diamond Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield & Gr2 Bill Stutt Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley) from 23 starts for $1,269,415 earnings. Back in April 2008, Arrowfield announced the purchase of a 50% interest in the then juvenile colt, with a plan for him to stand at stud upon completion of his racing career. Managing director John Messara enthused yesterday: “He’s now a Gr1-winner after Gr1-placings as a 2YO & 3YO, he’s by Red Ransom out of a Strawberry Road mare so is relatively free of Northern Dancer & his grand-dam was a Champion 2YO in France by Mr Prospector. There are outstanding performers in every generation of his pedigree & with the sire influences of Roberto & Mr Prospector close up, he is well served to make a stallion. Importantly, he has an active stallion close-up in his own pedigree in Rock Hard Ten. Hussonet & Charge Forward have proven the success of this farm’s out-cross strategy & All American will join Charge Forward as the 2nd outstanding colt by Red Ransom on the Arrowfield stallion roster.”
