Mastercraftsman Retired To Coolmore Stud In Ireland

Wednesday, 11th November 2009

In Europe overnight, Coolmore announced last season's European Champion juvenile & now 3YO colt Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer-Starlight Dreams, by Black Tie Affair) has been retired from racing & will stand (alongside his sire Danehill Dancer) at Coolmore Stud in Ireland for an initial fee of €20,000 (A$32,000). Mastercraftsman boasts 7 wins (including this year’s UK Gr1 St James's Palace Stakes over 8 furlongs at Royal Ascot, Gr1 Irish 2000 Guineas over 8 furlongs at The Curragh & Irish Listed Diamond Stakes over 10.5 furlongs at Dundalk, plus 2008's Irish Gr1 National Stakes over 7 furlongs at The Curragh, Gr1 Phoenix Stakes over 6 furlongs at The Curragh & Gr2 Railway Stakes over 6 furlongs at the Curragh) & 2 placings (in this year’s Irish Gr1 Champion Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown & UK Gr1 Juddmonte International over 10.5 furlongs at York) from 12 starts for over A$1.8m earnings. Coolmore spokesman Christy Grassick commented: “Mastercraftsman was a top class racehorse winning 4 Gr1 races at 6 furlongs, 7 furlongs & 1 mile. He's a European Champion 2YO by Britain & Ireland's champion sire elect Danehill Dancer & comes from the family of champion sires Capote & Broad Brush. We think he offers outstanding value at €20,000 (A$32,000).”
