Barinka Wins NZ Canterbury Breeders Stakes

Paxton Park sire Shinko King (Fairy King-Rose Of Jericho, by Alleged) added a NZ black-type success when favoured 5YO mare Barinka (Shinko King-Hay Barlu, by Hey Baba Riba) scored a 1.75-lengths victory in yesterday’s NZ$50,000 Listed Valachi Downs Canterbury Breeders Stakes (1400m) for fillies & mares at Riccarton Park. Barinka (ridden by Mark Du Plessis for trainer Karen Zimmerman) defeated 4YO mare Chinon (Bertolini-Olivain, by Truly Vain) & fellow 5YO mare Snipza Gold (Pins-Golden Dawn, by Gold Brose). Barinka now has 4 wins & 7 placings (including May’s Listed Rotorua Stakes over 1400m at Te Aroha & 2008’s Gr3 Cuddle Stakes over 1600m at Trentham) from 20 starts for NZ$102,550 earnings.
