Keeneland Nov Day-2: US$1.7m Summer Raven

Thursday, 12th November 2009

Also at Keeneland early this morning (Australian time), bloodstock agent Reynolds Bell paid US$1.7 million for Gr3-winning 7YO mare Summer Raven (Summer Squall-Rahy Rose, by Rahy) sold in-foal to former Arrowfield Stud shuttler Unbridled’s Song. Summer Raven (from the family of Gr1-winning sire Wild Rush) was also consigned by Eaton Sales as agent for the Overbrook Farm dispersal. Bell commented: “She’s a real attractive mare. I like the family & the fact she’s by Summer Squall, who’s a nice broodmare sire. She’s got what looks like a nice 2YO in Winslow Homer (also by Unbridled’s Song) who won his 2nd start very nicely at Saratoga & is training well.” Bell was acting on behalf of an undisclosed client he described as “fairly new to the business & putting together a broodmare band to breed to race & sell.”
