Keeneland Nov Day-2: US$2.3m Cotton Blossom

Thursday, 12th November 2009

Also in the US sale ring, Florida pin-hooker Dean de Renzo (representing Betty Moran’s Pennsylvania-based Brushwood Farm) out-bid Greg Goodman from Kentucky’s Mt Brilliant Farm & paid US$2.3 million for Gr1-winning 5YO mare Cotton Blossom (Broken Vow-For Dixie, by Dixieland Band) during initial action in Kentucky early this morning (Australian time) on Day-2 at the 13-day Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. Cotton Blossom (consigned by Eaton Sales as part of the dispersal from Overbrook Farm, who paid US$1.9 million for her at this sale in 2007) was sold in-foal to former Darley shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry. De Renzo told bloodhorse.com: “I think Betty is going to be pretty happy with this mare; she’s fantastic. There is everything to like about her; she’s unbelievable. She’s the biggest, most beautiful mare, I think, to go into the ring for this sale. She was a fantastic racehorse & she’s a fantastic-looking mare, so she should have great babies. That’s what it’s all about. And Mrs Moran will race those babies.”
