Clueless Angel Wins WA Guineas

Monday, 16th November 2009

Western Australia's Mungrup Stud-based stallion Oratorio (Stravinsky-Express A Smile, by Success Express) added a black-type success when daughter Clueless Angel (Oratorio-Petite Angel, by Marooned) made it 3 successive wins when she gained the judge’s decision over her male rivals in a 3-way photo-finish to the $250,000 Gr2 WA Guineas (1600m) for 3YOs at Ascot in Perth. Clueless Angel (ridden by Paul Harvey for trainer Lindsey Smith) scored by a head from favoured colt Thorn Dancer (Thorn Park-Katie O'Neill, by Zabeel) with a further short-head to the gelding The Corporation (Helenus-Corn Fields, by Bletchley Park). Clueless Angel (a $130,000 yearling consigned by Mungrup Stud at 2008 Magic Millions Perth Premier Sale) now has 6 wins (also including last start’s Listed Burgess Queen Stakes over 1400m at Ascot on October 31) & 3 placings from 9 starts for $306,730 earnings.
