Dane Julia Wins TBV Summoned Stakes

Monday, 16th November 2009

Former South African & then New Zealand Gr1-winning 6YO mare Dane Julia (Caesour-Precious Julia, by Danehill) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $100,000 Listed TBV Summoned Stakes (1500m) for mares 4YO & up at Sandown. Equal top-weighted Dane Julia (ridden by Dwayne Dunn for trainer Lee Freedman) scored by a long-neck from favoured 4YO mare Rose Syrah (Testa Rossa-Rose Between, by Kala Dancer) with a further nose to equal top-weighed fellow 6YO mare Amberino (Perugino-Amber Plate, by Rustic Amber). Dane Julia took her record to 8 wins (also including April’s Gr1 NZ Bloodstock Breeders Stakes over 1600m at Te Aroha, plus 2007’s South African Gr1 Fillies Classic over 1800m at Turffontein & Gr2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas over 1600m at Turffontein) & 6 placings (including October’s Gr2 Rose Of Kingston Stakes over 1400m at Flemington & February’s Gr3 Mannerism Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield) from 30 starts for $401,542 earnings.
