Keeneland Nov Day-4: US$400k Dancing Shoes

Monday, 16th November 2009

Horse France’s Robert Nataf (acting on behalf of an Irish group that includes Paul Shanahan & Coolmore) paid the Day-5 top price of US$400,000 for 9YO mare Dancing Shoes (Danehill-Emmaline, by Affirmed) consigned by Four Star Sales as agent for Glencrest Farm & sold in-foal to former Arrowfield Stud shuttler Unbridled’s Song. Dancing Shoes’s dam Emmaline is a half-sister to both triple Gr1-wining champion older horse & sire Bates Motel, as well as Gr1-winning sire Super Asset. Nataf confirmed Dancing Shoes “is going to Ireland & the idea is to have her covered by Galileo (former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner). She was, to me, the best in the catalogue in terms of conformation, breeding & service, being in foal to Unbridled’s Song.” Dancing Shoes (then in-foal to Mizzen Mast) was purchased by the Greathouse family’s Glencrest Farm for just US$140,000 at Keeneland in January this year & David Greathouse commented: “We thought the market was a little light in January, so we thought if the money was right we’d take a shot with her. The sole reason to buy her was to resell her this year.”
