El Garufa Wins Argentina Gr1 Palermo

The 7YO entire El Garufa (Luhuk-La Camorrera, by Rainbow Corner) emerged the winner of Argentina’s Gr1 Gran Premio Hipodromo De Palermo (1600m) for the 2nd successive year, after 1st-across-the-line Equal Libero was relegated to 3rd placing for interference in the straight to 3rd-across-the-line & eventual runner-up Bless Destiny. El Garufa (ridden by Claudio Quiroga for trainer Luis Bedoya) officially defeated 6YO entire Bless My Destiny (Sekari-Bless My Way, by Cipayo) & 3YO colt Equal Libero (Equal Stripes-Labradora, by Kitwood). El Garufa took his overall record to 12 wins (including last start’s Gr3 Clasico Republica Federativa de Brasil over 1600m at Palermo on October 3, plus both May’s Gr1 Gran Premio De Las Americas OSAF-Copa Eduardo Blousson over 1600m at Palermo & January's Gr3 Clasico Buenos Aires over 1600m at Palermo, as well as 2008's Gr1 Gran Premio Palermo over 1600m, Gr3 Clasico Pedro Chapar over 1400m at San Isidro & Listed Clasico Reconquista over 14900m at San Isidro) & 9 placings (including April’s Gr2 Clasico Benito Villanueva over 1600m at Palermo, plus 2008's Gr1 Gran Premio Internacional Joaquin De Anchorena over 1600m at San Isidro, Gr2 Clasico Benito Villanueva over 1600m at Palermo & Gr3 Clasico Porteno over 1600m at Palermo, as well as 2007's Gr1 Gran Premio Palermo over 1600m & Gr2 Clasico 9 De Julio over 1600m at San Isidro) from 28 starts.
