Storm Chispazo Wins Gr1 Argentine Derby

In South America, the colt Storm Chispazo (Bernstein-Chimera, by Fitzcarraldo) circled the field from last to race away for a 3-lengths victory in Argentina’s Gr1 Gran Premio Nacional-Argentine Derby (2500m & final leg of the Argentine Triple Crown) for 3YOs at Hipodromo Palermo in Buenos Aires. Storm Chispazo (ridden by Jose Ricardo Mendez for trainer Alfredo Gaitan Dassie) defeated fellow colts Dedini (Orpen-Delambre, by Rainbow Corner) & Brazilian-bred Odds On (Roi Normand-Ilha Bela, by Kingmambo). Storm Chispazo took his record to 3 wins (also including a 12-lengths victory on the turf at San Isidro in his previous race on October 31) & a runner-up from 5 starts.
