US Dual Champ Indian Blessing Heads To Zensational

Tuesday, 17th November 2009

Owners Hal & Patti Earnhardt announced US dual champion 4YO mare Indian Blessing (Indian Charlie-Shameful, by Flying Chevron) will visit this season's triple Gr1-winning 3YO Zensational (Unbridled's Song-Joke, by Phone Trick) in both horses’ initial year at stud in 2010. Trainer Bob baffert declared: “The reason we are breeding Indian Blessing to Zensational is to come up with the perfect thoroughbred! They were both unbelievable on the racetrack with perfect conformation & exceptional brilliance. We are all after the super horse & I was blessed to train both of them.” Indian Blessing won September’s Gr2 Gallant Bloom Breeders' Cup Handicap at Belmont Park in her final start, after previously winning the Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, Gr1 Prioress Stakes, Gr1 Test Stakes & Gr1 La Brea Stakes, plus finishing runner-up in the Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, Gr1 Ballerina Stakes & Dubai’s Gr1 Golden Shaheen. Overall home-bred Indian Blessing recorded 10 wins & 5 runners-up from 16 starts for US$2,995,420 earnings. And this season Zensational (a US$20,000 yearling at the 2007 Keeneland September Sale & later a US$700,000 2YO at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Florida February Sale) defeated older rivals in September's Gr1 Pat O'Brien Stakes (7 furlongs) at Del Mar, August's Gr1 Bing Crosby Handicap (6 furlongs) at Del Mar & July's Gr1 Triple Bend Handicap (7 furlongs) at Hollywood Park. Overall Zensational recorded 5 wins & a runner-up from 8 starts for US$609,300 earnings.
