Snowden Aims Purple At 2010 Gr1 Japan Cup

Wednesday, 18th November 2009

Trainer Peter Snowden revealed an international campaign, culminating in the 2010 Gr1 Japan Cup, is under consideration for dual Gr1-winning 4YO mare Purple (Commands-Lady Viola, by Zabeel). Snowden told Radio Sport 927 that Purple’s owner Darley is also considering a northern hemisphere breeding season for Purple’s former Woodlands & now Darley stallion Commands (Danehill-Cotehele House, by My Swanee) & noted: “It would be good to have her racing there to help to promote the sire. This mare is definitely improving & I think we are only seeing the beginning of where she is going to be.” Purple currently boasts 6 wins (including this month’s Gr2 Matriarch Stakes over 2000m at Flemington, May’s Gr1 Queensland Oaks over 2400m at Eagle Farm & April's Gr1 Vinery Stud Storm Queen Stakes over 2000m at Rosehill) & 6 placings (including last weekend’s Gr2 Sandown Classic over 2400m, October’s Listed Carsales.com.au Classic over 1600m at Caulfield & May’s Gr3 Hidden Dragon Doomben Roses over 2020m) from 17 starts for $902,613 earnings.
