SA Trainer Magro Moving To Vic

Thursday, 19th November 2009

In South Australia, the “lengthy redevelopment of the Gawler Racecourse has suffered its first casualty, with trainer Darren Magro to pull up stumps & head to Victoria,” reported The Advertiser. Magro, 38, will relocate to Officer (between Cranbourne & Pakenham) “taking up a 3-fold position with accountant Roy Joseph, a racing enthusiast who is building a rehabilitation, training & agistment complex”. Magro enthused: “It is a great opportunity for me because I'll be responsible for the rehab & pre-training of horses & also be training for my own clients as well as for Roy & his family. There is already an operational aquasiser (exercise pool) with 20 newly built boxes & by early next year there will be stabling for 60 horses. I'll be living on the property, which also has a 2600m training track.”
