22nd European Winner For Freshman Shamardal

In the UK, European champion 4-time Gr1-winning Darley shuttler & northern hemisphere freshman stallion Shamardal (Giant's Causeway-Helsinki, by Machiavellian) recorded his 22nd northern 1st-crop winner when Sheikh Hamdan’s Irish-bred 2YO colt Jarrow (Shamardal-Wolf Cleugh, by Last Tycoon) scored over 6 furlongs on all-weather at Lingfield Park for trainer Mark Johnston. Jarrow (a half-brother to Ireland’s Rathbarry Stud stallion Moss Vale) was initially a 95,000 guineas (A$181,000) weanling at the 2007 Tattersalls December Sale & subsequently a 190,000 guineas (A$361,000) yearling at the at the 2008 Tattersalls October Sale.
