Motivator Withdrawn From UK 2010 Stud Duty

Monday, 23rd November 2009

England’s Royal Studs-based former Gr1 English Derby-winning 6YO freshman sire Motivator (Montjeu-Out West, by Gone West) has been withdrawn from stud duties in 2010 “due to a hind-tendon injury he sustained earlier this year,” reported racingpost.com. Motivator (who boasts 8 1st-crop winners this season, including Gr2-winning filly Pollenator) will be rested after surgery. John Warren (who manages Motivator's stallion career for a syndicate of prominent breeders) confirmed: “He looks as if he could be become an important stallion, but tendon injuries need a long time to heal & for that reason, we’ve decided not to cover with him next year.” During this 2009 season, Motivator (who won both the 2004 UK Gr1 Racing Post Trophy & 2005 Gr1 English Derby, as well as the Gr2 Dante Stakes & runner-up in both the UK Gr1 Eclipse Stakes & Gr1 Irish Champion Stakes) stood at the Royal Studs for £10,000 (A$18,000).
