Richard Beymer Wins NZ Counties Bowl

Windsor Park Stud's 7-time NZ champion sire Volksraad (Green Desert-Celtic Assembly, by Secretariat) added a black-type success when favoured 6YO gelding Richard Beymer (Volksraad-Westside Story, by Star Way) notched his 2nd stakes win in a fortnight when he gained the decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the NZ$60,000 Listed Counties Bowl (1100m) at Pukekohe. Richard Beymer (ridden by Kate Hercock for trainer Jakki Good) scored by a neck from 7YO gelding Accardo (Elnadim-Princess Marengo, by Umatilla) with a further long-neck to 5YO gelding Mallinson Road (Sandtrap-Yo Deseo, by His Royal Highness). Richard Beymer (passed-in for NZ$67,500 as a 2YO at the 2005 NZB Horses-In-Training Sale) now has 11 wins (also including last start’s Listed Timpson Family Trust Sprint over 1200m at Te Rapa on November 7, plus 2008’s Listed First Sovereign Trust Stakes over 1100m at Pukekohe) & 10 placings (including August’s Gr3 Foxbridge Plate over 1200m at Te Rapa & both March’s Listed Melbourne Racing Club Lightning Handicap over 1200m at Trentham & Gr3 Darley Plate over 1200m at Ellerslie) from 29 starts for NZ$348,050 earnings.
