NZ Birthplace Immortalises Phar Lap

In New Zealand, a life-size sculpture of Phar Lap has been erected in the town where the subsequent star Australian-trained racehorse & 1930 Melbourne Cup-winner was born. Phar Lap “entered the world in a paddock 3km outside the south island town of Timaru & an 850kg bronze sculpture of the champion has been lowered into place at Timaru racecourse,” reported abc.net.au.
