Oliver Ephedrine Ban Hearing On Monday
Leading jockey Damien Oliver’s appeal against the severity of his 1-month suspension (after a random urine sample taken at Flemington on October 31 tested positive to the banned substance ephedrine) will be heard by Victoria’s Racing Appeals & Disciplinary Board on Monday. Racing Victoria stewards suspended Oliver on Tuesday & he immediately released a statement noting he has been taking a “herbal supplement” (which acted as a weight management aide) since the year 2000 without an issue. Oliver added he believed the penalty “is highly excessive based on penalties previously imposed in other cases”.
