UK Tatts Foals Day-1: Average Up 7%

Overall on Day-1 at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale (which this year is 1 day & 311 lots smaller than in 2008) 159 horses sold for 1,154,100 guineas (A$2.193m) which was up 54.7% on last year’s opening session. The average of 7,258 guineas (A$13,800) was up 7%, but the median of 3,700 guineas (A$7,000) was down 7.5%. Importantly, the clearance rate of 69% was significantly up on the 1st & 2nd day last year, while the turnover was actually greater than 2008’s initial 2 days combined.
