Craig Williams Riding In Japan World Super Series

Friday, 27th November 2009

In Japan, Craig Williams (winner of the last 4 Melbourne jockey premierships) will represent Australia in next month’s World Super Jockey Series in Japan for the 4th successive year. He is among 8 international riders (also including Calvin Borel & Garrett Gomez from the US, Douglas Whyte from HK, Ryan Moore from the UK, Mick Kinane from Ireland & Christophe Lemaire & Ioritz Mendizabal from France) competing against 7 Japanese jockeys in a series of races on both turf & dirt over 2 days (December 5-6) & varying distances at Hanshin racecourse. Williams (who won the contest in 2006) told The Herald-Sun: “It's a great series. It's very lucrative & highly competitive. It's a real test of a jockey's skills in all kinds of races.”
