Leica Falcon Switched To McLean Warrnambool Stable

Friday, 27th November 2009

Injury-plagued former top stayer & now 8YO gelding Leica Falcon (Nothin Leica Dane-Lady Peregrine, by Scrupules) has been moved from Richard Freyer's stables at Corowa in southern NSW to Jarrod McLean's seaside stables at Warrnambool in Victoria. McLean told The Warrnambool Standard: “I got a phone call from the owners to see if I would be interested in training Leica Falcon. We are happy to give him a go & see what happens, but at this stage we have got no expectations at all. We train our horses on the beach & we have had a little bit of success with horses like him in the past, but there are no guarantees. The chances of him firing up are pretty slim, but we will give it a go. His owners would just love to see him return to some of his best form.” Leica Falcon (who finished 4th in the 2005 Melbourne Cup & was early favourite for the 2006 Cup before being injured) boasts 5 wins (including 2005’s Gr2 Winning Edge Presentation Stakes over 2400m at Caulfield) from 21 starts for $464,025 earnings.
