On-Line Betting "Opening Up" Delayed In France

Friday, 27th November 2009

In France, the Bill “to open up the on-line betting market is being held up by a morass of other legislation & may not become law on April 1 next year, as the French government intended” reported racingpost.com. The proposal (which will open the French on-line market to operators other than the Pari-Mutuel Urbain off-course tote) has already gone successfully through the Chambre desDeputes (lower house of Parliament). The next stage is for the Bill to be debated in the Senat (upper house) “but this is now unlikely to happen until the beginning of next year”.
