Friday, 27th November 2009

Blandford Bloodstock's Richard Brown (acting for James Egan's Corduff Stud) also paid 135,000 guineas (A$257,000) for a colt from the 1st-crop of Darley stallion & 2007 Gr1 English Derby winner Authorized (out of Red Ransom mare Scarlet Empire) consigned from The Castlebridge Consignment. The colt’s dam Scarlet Empire is a half-sister to Gr3-winner Arctic (who is being aimed at the 2009 Gr1 Irish 2000 Guineas) & Brown told racingpost.com: “He'll come back here (for resale) to October Book 1 next year. He was a straightforward athletic foal by a Derby winner & comes from a current family, as his dam is a half-sister to Arctic.”
