Aust-Bred Quinella In South Africa Gr2

Monday, 30th November 2009

Also in South Africa, Gr1-winning Coolmore stallion Fastnet Rock (Danehill-Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) added a group success (& 6th individual stakes-winner) when Australian-bred colt Curved Ball (Fastnet Rock-Curvaceous, by Zabeel) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the R500,000 (A$75,000) Gr2 Dingaans (1600m) for 3YOs at Turffontein. Curved Ball (ridden by Anthony Delpech for trainer Charles Laird) defeated fellow Australian-bred colt & previously unbeaten stable-mate Galileo’s Galaxy (Galileo-A Star Affair, by Star Way) & another colt Galanthus (Silvano-Al Jestic, by Al Mufti). Curved Ball (a $200,000 yearling bred by Bart Cummings’s Princes Farm & consigned from Stud Consultants at the 2008 Magic Millions National Sale) now has 2 wins & a placing from 3 starts. And Galileo’s Galaxy was a $550,000 yearling consigned from Coolmore at the 2008 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney.
