Monday, 30th November 2009

Victorian Racing Minister Rob Hulls said the state government “accepted the decision” taken by Racing Victoria as “the independent body that controls racing in Victoria”  & noted it came “after a comprehensive review of jumps racing that showed the jumps racing industry was becoming unsustainable”. Hulls added: “The RV board has been best placed to review jumps racing & take into account the views from all sides of the debate. It has made a decision that is designed to ensure the ongoing viability of the entire racing industry, including protecting the health & welfare of jockeys & horses.”
