Monday, 30th November 2009

In Australia, Vinery Stud stallion Testa Rossa (Perugino-Bo Dapper, by Sir Dapper) added a group success when 4YO mare Ortensia (Testa Rossa-Aerate's Pick, by Picnicker) motored home from the tail of the field to score a 1.5-lengths victory in the $500,000 weight-for-age Gr2 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot in Perth. Ortensia (ridden by Craig Williams for trainer Tony Noonan) defeated 7YO gelding Idyllic Prince (Scenic-Uma Princess, by Umatilla) & 5YO mare Black In Time (Blackfriars-Stop In Time, by Tenby). Ortensia (a $50,000 yearling at the 2007 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne) now has 8 wins (also including both May’s Gr2 QTC Cup over 1300m at Eagle Farm & Listed Glenlogan Park Stakes over 1350m at Doomben, plus April's Listed P.J.Bell Handicap over 1200m at Randwick, as well as 2008's Gr3 Thousand Guineas Prelude over 1400m at Caulfield) & 5 placings (including the Listed Herald-Sun Stakes over 1400m at Flemington on November 3, plus June’s Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap over 1400m at Eagle Farm & April's Listed James Carr Stakes over 1400m at Randwick, as well as 2008's Gr3 TBV/Eliza Park Champagne Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley) from 16 starts for $950,517 earnings.
