UK Tatts Foals Day-4: $475k Invincible Spirit Colt

Monday, 30th November 2009

Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell Estates racing manager Angus Gold paid the Day-4 top price of 250,000 guineas (A$475,000) for a colt by former European Champion 1st Season Sire & Chatswood Stud shuttler Invincible Spirit (out of King’s Best mare Liscune) consigned by Bryanstown House Stud in Ireland. The colt’s yearling half-sister was bought for €200,000 (A$360,000) John Ferguson at Deauville in August & Gold told racingpost.com the colt will head to Derrinstown Stud in Ireland “to mature before going into training” & noted: “He was a cracking colt & of what I've seen he was the standout of the day. The sire has done great & I think the mare is going to turn out to be decent, because her Oasis Dream yearling was for me the standout filly at Deauville this year. The colt had a lovely pedigree & seemed to have a great attitude.”
