Owner Claims Racing Vic Bringing Racing "Into Disrepute"
Pro-jumps racing supporters “maintained the rage yesterday against Racing Victoria's decision to end the sport next year,” reported The Herald-Sun. Moe owner Manny Gelagotis “penned an open letter to the Racing Victoria board, the Australian Jumps Racing Association & the media, declaring he was embarrassed to belong to RV”. Gelagotis accused RV of “bringing the industry into disrepute by saying jumps racing presented a poor image for racing” & asserted: “I challenge the board to tell us who authorised this comment, or is it a personal opinion from individuals that when at 4am we are all working these people are sleeping?” Gelagotis added RV had “professionally tried to slowly kill the jumps industry by delaying decisions on purpose, so we can't go out & buy jumpers for the future”.
