UK Tatts Breeding Stock Day-1: $1.14m High Heeled
James Wigan from London Thoroughbred Services paid 600,000 guineas (A$1.14m) for Gr3-winning 3YO filly High Heeled (High Chaparral-Uncharted Haven, by Turtle Island) consigned from the Faringdon Place Stables of trainer Barry Hills. High Heeled finished 3rd in both this year’s Gr1 English Oaks & Gr2 Lancashire Oaks & last start blitzed her older rivals by 6-lengths in October’s Gr3 St Simon Stakes at Newbury. Wigan (who acts as racing manager to George Strawbridge) told racingpost.com: “She's been bought for a longstanding client & will be staying in training in Newmarket. She's a very athletic filly with a proven record. There are better opportunities now for older fillies & you could pay that amount for a couple of nice yearlings & not get a Group winner.” High Heeled was originally a €110,000 (A$176,000) yearling at Ireland's 2007 Goffs Millions Sale.
