UK Tatts Breeding Stock Day-1: $3.42m Lush Lashes

Tuesday, 1st December 2009

In the UK overnight, agent Luke Lillingston (bidding on behalf of trainer Jim Bolger) paid 1.8 million guineas (A$3.42m) to buy out Bolger’s partner in triple Gr1-winning 4YO mare Lush Lashes (Galileo-Dance For Fun, by Anabaa) during the opening session at the 4-day Tattersalls December Breeding Stock Sale. Although the transaction went down as a “vendor buy-back”, Bolger told racingpost.com he was purchasing the share in Lush Lashes (winner of last season's Gr1 Nassau Stakes, Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks & Gr1 Matron Stakes) previously owned by Paddy Power co-founder John Corcoran & “plans to send his mare to Sea The Stars next year”. Bolger summed up: “I've bought out my partner & he's happy & I'm happy. He's not keen to have too many broodmares & we agreed we'd put her up for sale. I think it was a fair price, I deemed it value at that. She would have made more in the past, but we have to deal with realities. She was a super racemare & hopefully she'll be a super broodmare.”
