Also in South Africa, 4 Australian-bred gallopers scored weekend victories:

  • 2YO filly Maureen De Lago (Encosta De Lago-Seeking A Way, by Seeking The Gold) won on debut over 800m at Kenilworth for trainer Justin Snaith.
  • 4YO mare Thin Red Line (Redoute's Choice-Isadora, by Gold Fever) won over 1000m at Turffontein for trainer Charles Laird. Thin Red Line was a 480,000 yearling consigned by Southern Cross breeders at the 2007 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast.
  • 4YO entire Dan De Lago (Encosta De Lago-The Golden Dane, by Danehill) won over 1600m at Turffontein for trainer Charles Laird. Dan de Lago was a $480,000 yearling consigned by Coolmore Stud at the 2007 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast
  • 3YO colt More Than Zealous (More Than Ready-Zedagal, by The Judge) won over 1400m at Turffontein for trainer Charles Laird. More Than Zealous was a $120,000 yearling at the 2008 Magic Millions National Sale.
