Monday, 7th December 2009

On the Australian track, Bengalla Stud sire Bite The Bullet (Spectacular Bid-Lassie's Lady, by Alydar) added a Gr1 triumph when 6YO gelding Sniper's Bullet (Bite The Bullet-Yallah Terrace, by Yallah Prince) notched his 2nd successive Gr1 win in a fortnight with a 1.75-lengths victory in the $500,000 Gr1 weight-for-age Kingstown Town Classic (1800m) at Ascot in Perth. Sniper’s Bullet (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainer Tracey Bartley) defeated 3YO colt God Has Spoken (Blackfriars-Dolly Will Do, by Rubiton) & favoured 7YO gelding Scenic Shot (Scenic-Sweepshot, by Dr Grace). Sniper's Bullet (for whom a reported offer of $1 million from Hong Kong was turned down in early 2007) now boasts 8 wins (also including last start’s Gr1 Railway Stakes over 1600m at Ascot on November 21, plus 2007’s Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap over 1400m at Eagle Farm) & 13 placings (including both October’s Gr3 AAMI Business Insurance Stakes over 1400m at Flemington & Gr2 The Shorts over 1100m at Randwick, plus April’s Gr2 Sir Byrne Hart Stakes over 1200m at Eagle Farm, as well as 2008’s Gr1 Kingston Town Classic over 1800m at Ascot, Gr1 Railway Stakes over 1600m at Ascot, Gr3 AAMI International Travel Insurance Stakes over 1400m at Flemington, Gr2 Canterbury Stakes over 1550m at Canterbury Park, Gr1 Chipping Norton Stakes over 1600m at Randwick & Gr2 Expressway Stakes over 1200m at Canterbury, in addition to 2007’s Gr1 Royal Randwick Guineas over 1600m & Gr2 Royal Sovereign Stakes over 1200m at Randwick) from 34 starts for $2,429,225 earnings.
