1st Winner For Freshman Sire Ferocity

Tuesday, 8th December 2009

Queensland’s Oaklands Stud freshman stallion Ferocity (Lion Hunter-Chiara, by Last Tycoon) recorded his 1st winner when 2YO gelding Sticksy (Ferocity-Beesem, by Strategic) scored on debut over 1000m at Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast for trainer Murray Thompson. Sticksy was a $14,000 yearling consigned from Lavin Park at March's Magic Millions QTIS 600 Sale. His 7YO sire Ferocity (passed-in for $75,000 at the 2004 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) retired after his spring 2005 program with 3 wins (including the Adelaide Magic Millions as a 2YO & Gr2 Ascot Vale Stakes as a 3YO) & 4 placings (including the Gr2 VRC Sires' Produce Stakes, Listed PFD Stakes & Listed Concept Sports Stakes) from 10 starts. Ferocity stands at Toowoomba-based Oaklands for $11,000 & is the 1st son of former champion stallion Lion Hunter (Danehill-Pure Of Heart, by Godswalk) to stand at stud.
