Gr1 Star Soldier Of Fortune Retired To French Stud

Also in France, Coolmore announced multiple Gr1-winning Irish-bred 5YO entire Soldier Of Fortune (Galileo-Affianced, by Erin's Isle) has been retired to Haras du Logis Saint-Germain for the 2010 breeding season at an initial fee of €10,000 (A$16,000). Soldier of Fortune won the 2007 G1 Irish Derby by 9-lengths & the 2008 UK G1 Coronation Cup, as well as also winning 2007’s French G2 Prix Noailles, French G2 Prix Niel & UK G3 Chester Vase, plus finishing 3rd in the 2008 French Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe & runner-up in both France’s 2006 G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud & 2008 G1 Grand Prix de Saint Cloud. Coolmore’s Christy Grassick commented: “Coolmore has been looking to send a horse to stand in France for a number of years & Soldier Of Fortune seemed the ideal type to appeal to the French breeder.”
